Paint Protection Film

Paint Protection Film for Your Vehicle

At SignX, we install Hexis Paint Protection Film, a high-clarity, self-healing film applied directly to your vehicle’s exterior. Our paint protection film for cars covers the areas that take the most punishment, including the bonnet, bumpers, mirrors, and door edges, or we can wrap the full vehicle as part of a complete vehicle paint protection service, depending on what you need.

The film is invisible once applied, so your car looks exactly as it did before, just protected. If you’re also considering a colour change or branding, our full body wraps can be applied over or alongside PPF, depending on your goals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Hexis PPF self-heal, and what does that actually mean?

Yes. The film’s topcoat has thermoplastic properties, meaning light surface scratches and swirl marks close up on their own when exposed to heat, either from sunlight or warm water. Deeper cuts that go through the film won’t self-heal, but the film has absorbed the damage that would otherwise have hit your paint.

How long does paint protection film last on a New Zealand vehicle?

Hexis PPF is built for long-term use. With proper care, you can expect it to last 7 to 10 years. Exposure to UV, salt air, and road grime is factored into the film’s design, which matters given the range of conditions across the country.

Will PPF turn yellow or peel over time?

Lower-quality films can. Hexis is an optically clear, UV-stable film that resists yellowing and discolouration. Poor installation is the more common culprit behind peeling, which is why getting it fitted by an experienced team makes a real difference to how the film performs long-term.

Can PPF be removed without damaging the paint underneath?

A professionally installed film should peel away cleanly. The adhesive is designed to release without pulling up paint or leaving residue behind. DIY removal or rushing the process is where paint damage tends to happen, so it’s worth having it taken off by someone who knows what they’re doing.

Do I need to do anything differently to maintain a PPF-covered vehicle?

Standard washing is fine. Avoid high-pressure jets aimed directly at the film edges, and skip abrasive polishes on the film surface. A ceramic coating can be applied over PPF if you want to make maintenance even easier and add an extra layer of gloss.
